Explosives & Bulk Manufacturing

Explosives and energetic materials for defense programs and energetic-device manufacturing.

Inside the capability

What is bulk explosives manufacturing?

Energetic materials store chemical energy that can be released for a defined purpose. In bulk manufacturing, the product being supplied is the material itself. Its intended application determines the material requirements and its role in the finished product.

Valor Tactical manufactures explosives and bulk energetic materials for defense applications. This capability supports material supply alongside its production of energetic devices and related components.

How do energetic materials differ from finished devices?

An energetic material provides the energy used by a device. Mechanical parts, connections and enclosures allow that energy to serve a particular function within an assembly. Material supply and complete-device manufacturing therefore represent different parts of a program.

The agreed manufacturing scope identifies what is being supplied: energetic material, related components, or a finished device. This keeps the work and its acceptance requirements clear.

Why is material traceability important?

Material identity and production records help connect a supplied batch with its applicable requirements. Traceability provides a record of what was made and the checks associated with it.

Bulk explosives manufacturing is part of Valor’s wider energetics capability, which also includes missile initiators, squibs, EEDs and CAD/PAD.
